Solid axle swap
 

My front diff is on its way out after years of abuse and I’m getting tired of dealing with the ifs and I want something more capable. Just wondering who has had experience with this and could point me in the right direction.

My main concern is my truck is just the way I want it with 2.5 inches of level. I don’t want it to go any higher. I’d like to still fit in the garage and parking garages.

My idea is to take an 05-07 super duty Dana 60 along with the radius arms and coil buckets and fab some brackets for my truck. What’s nice is the frame of the h2 is 38 inches wide and the frame of an f250 is roughly the same so the springs sit right where I want them.

Does anyone know if there will be enough clearance between the axle and the frame to keep my 2.5” level? Or am I going to have to notch the frame?

I can’t tell whether the swapped trucks are swapped because they’re so tall or so tall because they’re swapped.

Well, Gavin, as usual you are a ground breaker and go where no man has gone before. In all the years playing with the H2 I have never seen anyone successfully pull off what your trying to do. I do know if anyone can figure out a way it will be you.

I know lots of people that have gone solid axle on H3s. I think Sergie did it on his H2 awhile back back he is no longer active on any of the forums.

I think it's very doable. Just eyeballing it and imagine a straight axle in its place, my guess is you'll be about 5 in below the front of the oil pan. Probably not enough, which means an additional 2 inches of lift let's say.

Keep in mind it will affect some abilities off-road, particularly if you like to run down to Moab once in awhile.

Gavin, I think if you go the solid axle route your going to have to do a major lift. If your going solid axles just for the strength consider an updated Siliverado 2500 Duramax axle. Predator in California does these as an option on their H2 Duramax transplant. They are re-geared, set up so they can be bolted right into the H2 and since you already have the selectable transfer case your set to go for 2wd. The SF14 AAM stock rear axle is fairly stout but if you blow that up Predator has a fix for that as well again a converted Silverado 2500 Duramax axle.

One thing is for sure there is no way your gonna blow up either of those 2 unless you install a ZZ632 running nitro. lol Nice thing is everything will look and drive like stock and if anything you will ad value to your H2, best of luck. Should be an interesting road ahead!
