Hummer H2For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.
Well, as much as I loved the H2, I had to say goodbye earlier this month. I'll definitely miss it. One of my all time favorite vehicles and I've owned all kinds of them over my 58 years of driving. Enjoyed the Forum and the information contained here. Take care all and enjoy those beasts!
Oops, sorry Phil. So wife had an issue (close call) and decided it was too big to feel comfortable to drive (it and her Cadillac Escalade). So she downsized to a Caddilac XT4 and I went with a Land Rover LR4 (she test drove it and decided it was OK).
Of course we never get what we feel is the "right" or "sufficient" price but I got 15K trade in value so not really bad for an 03 and a dealership. Wouldn't have taken that in a cash sell as it had just came out of the shop for the front diff leak (last of all leakage of any kind) repair and upgraded the OEM radio to the Tesla style giving it a modicum of modern-esq tech. But I just couldn't wait to pass up the deal on the LR4 HSE. Happy wife/happy life. And the LR4 keeps me in a fairly capable Off Road vehicle - with headlight washers!!
Well we'll definitely miss you. I'm at a point with mine where I might have to make a serious decision. With 150k miles and all the time and money I've put into it, it just hasn't been very good to me. In the last 60k miles, its got $10k in transmissions, $500 in oil leaks, $1000 in front suspension components, $600 in alignments, $800 into 3 radiators, annoying coolant leaks, $1100 for an np transfercase because I was out of money to shell out for an oem borgwarner($4k), $100 in new seals for the brand new transfer case bc of course they leaked, $2100 in tires, $600 steering gearbox, $300 for a power steering pump, $250 in trans coolers, $150 in motor mounts, 2 ac belt tensioners and 4 different belts, $400 in front diff bushings, marker lights multiple times, and countless man hours. Trying to work and go to school with driving 60-70 miles a day I just don't know that I can keep up with it. Did the math and its like $800 a month in gas. I love the truck and I know it hasn't lived an easy life, but its a lot of hours and money to be putting in. It still needs new cv axles, a front diff rebuild, marker lights are out, engine has piston slap so bad in the morning it sounds like a diesel, you get a nice loud bang sometimes when starting the truck up, smells like *** when you're accelerating on the highway, and have i ever mentioned how horrible the 6l80 transmission is? It literally kills itself with the programming, and even after you fix that and the torque converter issues, it still doesn't know what to do half the time.
I'm sure I'll end up keeping it, but it is so frustrating.
Good luck with the Land Rover!! Totally understand, these are getting 20 years old now and continual issues seem to arise..... Sorry to see you go!! Hope the LR treats you well - I had a discovery back in the 90's that broke my heart... Love and had many English vehicles ( MG's, Jags, LR's) in the 80s & 90's..... just at that time they were beautiful to look at, but broke alot
I'm not going to delete my account quite yet, and will possibly chk in once in a while, but i wont be keeping up with the daily updates. I learned a lot about the H2s and have enough wrench time to offer a bit of help.

Thanks. I started out with a 61 MGA waaaay back in the day. Familiar with the TD, a Bug-eye & AH 3000. And the Land Rover forum is just like the Hummer forum - full of maintenace & problem horror stories - LOL.
Happy trails my friend! We will all miss you here, I really can't fault your moving on. New tech, no need to finding good mechanics to work on your H2 or scrounging to find parts.
The LR is a great head turner as well and I am sure the "Happy Wife" will enjoy driving it as well. My wife loves here XT5 which keeps her out of my H2 which suits me just fine. Please drop in from time to time if for nothing else but to see what all your old buddies are up to and get good laugh.
Haven’t been here long enough to get to know you but sure will look up some of your old post.
Betting you’ll miss the H2 after a while
Stay solid my friend
