Rear Hatch door wont open from outside
 

Put new pull handle on back to replace the plastic one and now door wont open.
Does anyone have a closeup picture of the door latch cable going into the handle.??

I also assume I will have to get in the truck and remove the trim panel on H2 rear liftgate and manually open the door .

Any help is appreciated

You may need to remove the interior lift gate panel and replace your lock actuator. This is a common problem with H2's. Cost is about $80 on eBay for them. I had to replace mine.

check cables for proper connection. With door open, reach around and pull handle to see if mechanism even moves manually.

Also do a search on the website here and see what previous owners have done.

We had a good thread regarding this issue, search around for it but I can't remember if its here or another forum.

I have the same problem, my lift gate hasn't opened in months. I don't hear any mechanical sounds when I unlock the doors. It feels just as if it's locked. any pictures on the solution would help greatly.

Remove the lift gate pullstrap.
Remove the bolt that retains the cargo tie down.

Remove the 2 push pin fasteners at the bottom edge of the liftgate trim panel
Gently pull on the lift gate trim panel to disengage the retaining clips.
Remove the lift gate trim panel from the vehicle.
Inspect for broken or missing retaining clips and replace the clips as necessary.
Disconnect the lock actuator electrical connector.

Important: Note location of arm prior to removal.
Remove the fastener (1) retaining the control arm to the actuator.
Remove the fastener (2) retaining the actuator to control arm assembly plate,
Slide the actuator upward, and remove the actuator from the plate.

You can remove the interior panel without opening the rear hatch. Easy to fix a broken latch. Takes about an hour. Email me if you want pictures.

Hey boss I need help I don't want to destroy my interior door because I lack the knowledge of how to open or remove the panel without destroying it. Can I please bother you to send me some pictures I would greatly appreciate it from this that

the problem is the cables.as the truck gets older they stretch . let's say it won't open. first thing wrap the plastic piece of s*** on the back. pull till the little plastic clips pop lose . then slowly pull till the six nuts pop off the plastic back . use something to break them off. This is fine your going to replace them.now reach in and pull the cable connected to the handle. Pop your in .now for the fix
my advice is to buy a new aluminum handle are this will be your next problem. remove the inside panel carefully. inspect all the parts check the lock actuator if it works it works. lubricate everything. now where the cables come in contact with the latch there will be two raised metal nubs. with a sbend them towards the bend them towards the middle about 3/8'' .check the mechanism by closing the door locks and pulling the handle release. make sure that all the slack on the cable is tied down. zip locks are best then drill out the 6 holes you broke . put washers and nuts and bolts on.then reinstall everything ! and remember if it ain't broke don't fix it
