Stefano-

There is no simple or easy off the shelf way to do a conversion. There are three main companies in the USA that do the conversion. Mash Motors, HLine, and Predator. It requires a large amount of custom fabrication and parts to mount things. Donor engine, transmission, etc. and a LOT of of work to modify the electrical system. Typically one of the few companies here in the USA that do the conversions charge between $25000 and $50000 USD for it. It is painfully expensive but very nice. You would also want to contact them to find out what extra costs and what might be involved in having them use a transfer case with a PTO output shaft and adding the wiring and PTO button. GM's PTO implementation can be configured in the engine ECM tune to control the idle when a PTO button is pressed to engage the PTO output in the transfer case.

As far as companies in Europe. I have no idea.

HLine does sell everything needed as a kit which you could purchase and have shipped overseas and then have some local place do the conversion for you.

Thanks a lot of the exhaustive answer,
Now I will see if I can connect a PTO on the front of the engine with a joint directly on the crankshaft.
I will keep you informed about the study of this solution .
Ciao Stefano

That or maybe a custom bracket that lets you add another pulley....

There is always this bracket for an air compressor, but maybe you could use it to drive a small gen head.

IIRC you were talking about a pretty good sized generator though.

Another option would be mating the allison 1000 trans that's used in some of the trucks/ suburbans with the 8.1l vortec gas engine to your current engine.
You would have to get one that compatible with the ECU so 03-07 if your h2 falls in that catagory, or 08 and up.
BUT i don't think it would come with the PTO option now that i'm thinking of that, sooo
Get an Allison from a 3500 series truck, and change the bellhousing, and torque converter to one of those from the above mentioned vehicles that came with the 8.1 gas and Allison.

You may have to use HP Tuners or a similar program and do a segment swap to the 8.1 OS in order for it to work properly, but I think it's doable!
