Oil pressure sensor
Hello
I'm Pamela. I have a 2008 H2 Hummer and I would like to know where to find the oil sending unit as I want to attempt to change it myself as I have looked at many YouTube videos how to do it. Is it on the right, the left or in the middle of the engine? Also, how do you take off the engine cover? It doesn't seem to be screwed on, but it seems like it lifts off as it has some hooks on the side, but I can't get it off. Is it easy to change yourself? If it's in the manual where the oil sending unit is, can you please let me know what page it's on? Hoping to hear from you soon, Thank you so much! |
L92 Oil Sending Unit
Hi Pamela, Here's a picture of the L-92 used in the 08 H2. The Oil Pressure sender is indicated inside the red box.
Some people actually remove in intake manifold in order to get to it which is not necessary. Its a real pain to get to as you can see and the biggest challenge is getting off the wiring connectors. Plan on have a 1 1/16 socket, universal and extensions. Take your time and be super careful not to cross thread the replacement. Good luck to you! https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hum...e61a16a25b.jpg 2008-2009 H2 GM LS based L92 engine |
Pulling the intake the first time might take you 20 minutes. After you've done it it's only a 10-minute job. Gives you all sorts of room. And a good excuse to replace that intake manifold gasket, and do the knock sensors unless you have the later model 6.2. In all cases, you will probably find about half of the valley cover bolts loose, even finger tight. You can either pull them out one at a time, a little bit of blue loctite and torque them properly ... Or as I usually do, might as well pull the valley cover and change the gasket. All sorts of room with the intake off!

Oil sending unit
Thank you so much for the information for changing the part. My daughter and I will try our best to follow your directions! Especially since they want $300 to change a $25 part! We looked at some YouTube videos and that was a big help as well. So we're going to attempt this week to get it done.
Take care. |
