Looking to run bigger tires

So I know this is a rather debated topic and every truck is different in what works well and what dosent, but I have yet to find a clear answer. I have a completely stock h2 (aside from a cradle mounted winch and a 50" light bar) and I am looking into a new rim/tire deal. I want to run 37s or 38s on a 20"rim (still debating on Nittos or toyos). I have been told I could fit 37s on without a lift but will probably get a 1-2 inch body lift anyway or possibly a leveling kit. That part i understand, but what I have researched and still have no clue about is the correct offset. I don't want them to be sticking way out because i don't like the look of that. I really want it just enough to get the tires out of a heavy rub zone. Can someone who knows about offset or someone who is running this now guide me in the right direction? Let me know what your set up is because I'm really open to all ideas. Thanks.
