Actually, the transmission in the '08-'09's is GM's 6-speed 6L80E and not the Allison that is equipped with the Duramax's. You are correct in saying that the '08-09 transmission was a big difference from the '03-'07 4L65E 4-speed though.

 

Thanks for the correction, I thought the 6 speed was an Allison. Still I think the H2's with the 6L80E need more HP as I notice that running cruse control at 70 mph jumps off when going uphill. Mine is stock and would like to get a K&N and chip/programmer. After the new shocks and tires.

My '08 is stock as well except for the 325's. I have been very impressed with the power out of the 6.2 / 6-speed coming from a 6.0 / 4-speed '05. Like every vehicle I own, it could always use more power!

Does your cruise control actually turn-off when going up hill? That is not an issue I have had with mine. My cruise control works fine, although, it does downshift often on mountainous interstates.

I would be surprised if you feel any "seat of the pants" power increase with a K&N and chip ... let us know what you find if you add these mods. I will say that my 6.2 does like 93 octane much more than 87 or 89 ... I only run 93 octane in mine.
