I am doing a complete renovation of my 2008 H2. This module is behind the Factory head unit. I am just wondering if I can just remove this completely and toss it or is it somehow necessary for some function of the vehicle besides onstar?

 

i believe it will not start without the telematics unit. it is part of the antitheft system. you would have to find out what it kills. fuel? spark maybe starter?

 

This is great! I was thinking of doing the same thing, and having the magsafe charger affixed to the underside of the cubby (hidden) but the potential heat situation is a solid call-out. There's a guy on ebay that sells a full-depth pocket (3-d printed) that I might check out. I'm not a plastic sculpter like yourself. lol.
