I am looking for a tire swing latch that goes on the truck
1 Attachment(s)
Hello my fellow Hummer friends. I bought a tire swing and mount from craiglist and got screwed over by a guy telling me that the latch was cheap and you can get it anywhere, so if anyone has one or knows where i can find one, please let me know. I need the latch that goes on the truck that the swing latches close onto. In the picture, i need the part on the bottom left. Thank you!

Sorry some jerk took advantage of you.... I have the complete exterior spare tire set that I just removed. I have that part on the bottom left that you are looking for. Its part # 25864506 and it lists at a dealer between $400 and $600. I would let go of mine for you for $400 plus shipping. I dont know where you live so I could calculate the shipping costs.

Ya I the dealer is really overpriced for this part, I was trying to stay away from spending that much, thanks for the offer though.

Sorry I couldnt help...........
Just out of curiosity, what were you looking to spend? |
From the dealer you are looking at over $600.00 for the latch as you probably already know. I have a take off one in excellent condition, would be $170.00 shipped UPS ground

Just checking to see if this part of the hummer tire swing gate latch is still available?

Not sure what's wrong with your old latch (rust maybe?) have you considered re-conditioning your old one? It cost me a few buck to make it like new.
I completely dismantled the latch (and the whole carrier) and got the top-lever shot-blasted and powder-coated. I also carefully removed the V-Shaped rubber insert and got the casting blasted and powder-coated and glued the rubber back in. The trickiest part was the steel pin holding the spring mechanism inside the top-lever. As the pin was "pressed" in the factory I filed this end flat to free the pin then drilled and tapped. You can see the small button-head SS screw (slightly bigger than the diameter) you'd never know. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hum...ac804949a5.jpg The picture above shows the pin (RH) after filing, the zip-ties kept the pressure off the pin. After all the re-work was done everything looked brand new! https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hum...dddb3ad25a.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hum...4a3a2e9820.jpg Took these today after 2 years of English rain, I figure a brand new one would look the same! |
