Greetings everyone.

As the title states, I have a 2004 Hummer H2 with a cummins diesel conversion. I am in the process of replacing the power steering pump and would like to flush the system. I'm just not sure if I should use what GM or Cummins recommends as they can be different.

I want to use GM recommendations as it is "power steering fluid" as opposed to atf for cummins.

I have ran atf in my GM vehicles before without issue. Can you post some pics of your H2 please? I'm interested in this swap.

 

Both fluids will work fine. I use the PS fluid because it's normally cheaper than ATF

 

some say power steering fluid takes a bit more heat from the hydro boost system than transmission fluid will but i do not know if that is a real concern.

 

Thank you for your replies - I have atf from my tranny fluid change so i'll use that.

I picked the hummer up as a runner with many problems to solve. A Duramax diesel conversion seems more plug and play whereas the cummins is pure caveman!!!
