I don't know if this will work on the H2, but both key remote fobs for my 2007 H3 broke at the hole where the key ring goes through. I ordered two new ones off Ebay for $10 each.

Instead of paying the stealership to program, I popped open the new ones and removed everything - the rubber, the chip, and the battery. I opened my old ones and put the old rubber, old chip, and old battery into the new shell.

Much to my delight, they worked perfectly, and I avoided having to pay $25 to $50 each to have them "programmed". They pop open pretty easy - you can just use a penny on the bottom slot (below the ring hole) to pop them open.

I had similar issues resetting mine the first couple tries. Try to just go through the steps in order but dont worry about waiting to turn the key or holding the button for the five/ten second counts. Just do the steps in order at your pace and watch for the lights. I had similar issues when looking up little dances lke this for programming and resetting things in my Vette.

 

For some reason on this particular '03 that I have, as soon as I turn the ignition off the 2nd time, the door locks cycle on/off before I release the unlock button, and I'm not able to enter programming mode. Have others seen this? It seems strange as I've programmed other trucks without issue. Perhaps I need to reset the entire system somehow first?
