Default H2 SUV GOBI Stealth Rack - Review.

Have wanted to outfit my H2 for a long time. Have gotten the Ebay "MASSIVE BRUSH GUARD" already. Next roof rack.

OK, a little premature. I placed the order today. They will ship July 2, 2012.

As soon as I get it I will post pics of rack and install and thoughts/opinions.

I had wanted to be able to park my H2 in the garage and they "say" it will fit clearance wise. Well, I will find out.

I bought from Ebay - autopartsurplus is the vendor.

Going price elsewhere is $1300-1500. He is selling a few more for $800 plus shipping. Now shipping ain't cheap, but altogether shipped to Michigan its running $1100. Still well under what I expected to pay.

Looks like two more avail for $800.

Tallest point is around 81-82" just the the GOBI literature said it would be. Stock suspension and tires...for now.

My 13 yr old son climbed up there and walked around about 100 lbs and zero movement/bowing. This thing is ROBUST. GOBI did it right.

They had to remove the OEM wind deflector but the GOBI air dam works very well. Driving in to work today 70-80 mph and no additional noise from before. I am very sensetive to vehicle noises and tend to notice things other people don't...it sounds maybe even quieter?

Tape is from new windshield install....

Anyway, next is lighting on the rack.

Thanks for reading....

Cheers!

Your going price elsewhere should include the 4 Piaa lights for the front and 2 Piaa lights for the rear.

I dont see any mention of the lights in the auction.

Hmmm. I don't think so. I've checked and checked. The descriptions say there are places for the lights, but I don't see where they are included in the $1350+ pricing...checked many sites.

But I ain't perfect. Maybe I missed it...

Have a link?

Thanks,

Your right, nothing I see for retail shows the lights anymore... Price has gone up about $300 since I looked last to... ouch.

Suprised, I only see one listed nation wide on craigslist to...usually 5-10 at any time one there.

If they dont come w/ it, the rack is prewired to work w/ the Piaa lights. Might want to ask who ever you bought it from if they can give you a scremin deal on some lights since you already bought the rack...worth a shot.

And it doesn't come with the ladder. The higher prices will net you the ladder also which is over $200 with shipping.

I was in contact with the seller when he originally posted 1 for sale, asked if he had more and that's when he posted the 5 more.

It's just hard for me to justify over $500 for shipping....that's insane!

Freightquote is partnered with Ebay so when you click on shipping quote that is who's giving the quote. Problem with this seller is he's putting the rack under a freight class that is completely incorrect. Freight class of 200 from what I have seen is a "scientific instrument". Just padding the cost to make some extra dough since the price is so low.

I saw there was no ladder. But to be honest, I wasn't looking for the ladder and may have not installed if I got it so...

The shipping cost me just shy of $300 with insurance. I was told the pricing went up as the delivery location doesn't have a loading dock...

I don't ship large items enough to know the going rates, but for the VERY large size and weight it didn't bother me. All told I'm right at $1100 to my door. I expected to pay $1500+ so....

Cheers!

PS. Thanks for the info all...

FWIW, dependent on your needs, you will want a ladder. I have a full rack on my H2 and use my ladder constantly. I keep spare 37" tire up there, jerry cans when on the trails, a canoe when we go floating, and misc stuff when camping.
Plus, we use the ladder to gain access when we go to the drive-in. My 8yr old son loves sitting up there to watch the movies.
