H2 Sloppy Steering
I paid a shop to replace the ball joints, control arms and bushings on a 2006 H2 and the steering feels sloppy. Like a slow turn in 4 wheel drive low but it's not. The steering just seems off to the point I don't want to drive long distances. Any deviation in the road results in a lot of steering corrections and I will go over a speed bump with the steering wheel at 90 degrees until the car straightens out. The shop says their is nothing wrong. Any suggestions? |
First I would get a new shop if they think that nothing is wrong.
It could be a number of things: gearbox, tie rod ends, both inner and outer, pitman arm, idler arm, steering shaft etc. |
MOVED this for you to the correct section for H2 questions.
Note the Drivetrain Area where it says: "This section is an archive of older posts, please post new questions in the specific model section. Thank you!" Welcome to HF and good luck. |
I've replaced everything on my truck too. I just bit the bullet and ordered a new steering box and pitman arm. I have slop between the steering linkage and the box itself, in other words I can move my steering wheel without moving the pitman arm.
I'll let you know how it turns out, not due to arrive until 4/27 Tim |
I will consider this

I've done this to mine, it didn't make much difference. DO NOT over tighten the allen screw!
