H2 rear bumper lower rear bumper socket - VIDEO!!!!

Hey guys,

I made a Youtube video showing you how to fix / replace your corroded / bad lower rear bumper light socket without having to replace the ENTIRE lamp housing like GM wants you to.

Use a factory GM replacement part 9socket only) that only costs $4 and 5 minutes of your time to fix this common problem on 05-09s. Hope this helps!!!!

PS also if you want to see what chrome front and rear lower bumpers look like you can see mine in the video.

White vinegar also work to repair the socket

Great video. Very helpful and thanks for the part number too.

White vinegar also does the trick to repair the socket. I read on this forum and let it soak in vinegar for about 24 hrs and it will remove all The corrosion on the socket and take it out to let it dry out. A day later plug it back it and it work great.

I did order 2 more socket just for backup

The socket is GM 12335899

And if your plug that connects to this socket is also destroyed, you can get those here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-to-200...C/232523448458

This doesnt seem to be a "rust belt" issue either- the water splash off the rear tires into this area seems to be the culprit. This will happen anywhere (except probably desert driven H2's) lol.
If your rear bumper light is out- this or as CLSimmon mentions the plug, which he evidently can source..
