Default H2 9.5-12 mpg

Well, it's no secret...You pretty much lose a gallon of gas just looking at your H2. But we don't buy them for the gas...We Hummer owners buy them for the size, and off-road capabilities, and because there is truly nothing else like it.

My brother is an ex-Hummer owner. He had an '03 H2 and really wants an H1. We were discussing Hummers and he mentioned to me that people would act surprised, in telling him that Hummers are "Gas guzzlers", like this would come as a surprise to him. We could only reply with, "Damn, I must've missed the memo on that, Captain obvious". It's funny how people would think otherwise.

My poor wife thought we were getting about 12mpg...I broke the news to her this morning that it's about 9.5, and 12 on a good day of highway driving...Pretty funny reaction to the news, lol...She loves the safety though, so still no complaints from her!

Over 4 years and 48K miles I average 10.4 mpg in my 2003 H2. My H1s actually get better mpg than my H2 did.

Isn't that because the H1 runs on deisel?

I try not to go over 2000rpms...And on the highway, i don't typically go over 60-65mph...Thats pretty much what helps me with the gas...

The H1s run on diesel but outweigh the H2 by 2000#s.

How do you like the H1 compared to the H2? I will get one in the future. And can you get an H1 that fits more then 4 people?

You can put a middle seat in an SUT or a 3rd row seat in a wagon however the seats are mostly for kids and leave very little room for actual seating and head room.

h1's are cool. I had one for several years before the h2s came out. However the h2s are much much more refined, the h1 is more towards a military vehicle with leather seats.

On a good day, if I drive very cool I can get into the 13s on highway...but start a head wind or hit the gas to pass someone on the freeway and watch it drop!

Normally I as well get 10-10.7 ish mpg. I wanted a large, powerful 4x4 and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the look of my H2.

My one neighbor asked if I bought a gas station with it...told him be nice or I'll crush your Ford Fusion....

haha, nice...My wife and I were talking Spring and Summer, which are just around the corner. We laughed, as we discussed the drop of the gas, as we will run the air conditioner throughout. Would you say that driving on the highway with the windows down eats up just as much gas as driving with the air on, due to the wind resistance, at over 60mph?

I've heard different things on this topic
