Hummer H2 For those who like a little more gleam to their Hummer, the H2 offers a similar rugged look as the H1, but as a lower cost, and with more added features, making it almost a massive luxury SUV.

I'd say get the old one fixed and put it on the shelf for 10 years. Probably be worth $2,000 or more by then.....

I had to hunt down a used tank about 2 years ago for my 2003, it's absurd gm had only made that tank for that vehicle, amazing to me that nothing cross references

I had a purge valve go bad in My 09 H2 top of the tank. Took it to the dealer under Warranty. The Mechanic had been working on H2's ever since they came out. Rather then drop the Tank to fix it....this is what he came up with. He went out and bought a vertical Mirror for a Closet Door. Then he glued some magnets to each corner and a few in the center.

Next step was to stick the Mirror to the bottom of the H2's Floor above the Tank. This way he could see in reverse and remove the purge valve while the H2 was on the lift.He had also stuck a Light up there to see. The Money book gave him 2 plus hours to do the job. He did in 20 min and got paid for 2 hours work on commision. Smart MF. Also said it took a while to learn how to crank the hand tools in reverse of what he was looking at......L.O.L.

Just be careful experimenting on your old tank. Damn things are known to be explosive long after they've been rinsed out.

Agreed: Very Dangerous to weld on a empty tank. I heard tell some people will fill the tank with water up to the weld line and or fill it it and let the water leak out and just weld over the leak. BWTFDIK.

Here's a Good Old Boy With The answer

I can see in the near future as sources for used tanks will dry up, it will probably be necessary to fabricate brackets for an aftermarket aluminum fuel cell. They are available in all sorts of dimensions and volumes. At the current prices for an old used plastic tank.... Perhaps we are already on the verge of having to fabricate a different option....

If you're fabricating brackets, it may be cheaper and/or easier to fabricate a bracket to adapt a different GM fuel tank if it fits (like Suburban, 2500, etc.)

That might actually be easier... It would likely have the proper fittings.

Heck, Just grab a Big Azz Fuel Cell and stick it in the cargo area and run a Hose up the side of the 2 to an electric fuel pump like they do on Roadkill and Roadworthy Wrecks show...LMAO.

Lol, not sure I'd want a fuel tank sitting in the back

Not as bad as the old army jeeps, where the fuel tank was literally under the driver's seat
