Collision Repair In DFW
I was blindsided last Friday on the way home by someone not paying attention and blowing through a red light. Now I'm being told by the collision repair center they may total the vehicle. I'm really looking for a second opinion on this and wondering if anyone knows of a good collision repair in DFW that can handle a hummer.

It is at Sewell collision center right now. I just have a bad feeling I'm about to get royally screwed if they total it instead of fixing it. I just put a new tranny in, did the 100k tuneup with a new brake booster and some other items and bought 5 new tires 2 weeks ago. On the phone he said it was frame damage but I found a frame online for about 2k so I"m really worried this is just something they can't handle.

I just got off the phone with the collision repair specialist and he informed me that they indeed aren't capable of swapping out the frame there. So now I need to find someone capable of swapping out an h2 frame and I should be golden.

Looks like they ran into a wall. Lol. It amazes me how people can fly through a light and hit (of all things) a gient yellow hummer. Never did a frame swap before seems like it would be a fun project. Good luck bro!!

Can't imagine how much $$$ replacing a frame would be... $2000 for the frame alone (assuming it's straight), disassembly, then installing all the stuff (~$6000, 60 hours @$100 per hour). THEN you fix the other damage... I just don't know... Sorry you're going through this.
I had Jeep Grand Cherokee with what I thought was moderate damage totaled a few months ago. They figured within 80% of value was repairable.

Damn, I would have thought Sewell could handle the issue.
As big as that shop is and as many HUMMERs as they have worked on.
****, they have worked on 3 of mine.
Good luck with this outfit you found.
Hope they do a good job for ya.

They tell me a mount point on the frame was ovaled, so replacing the frame seems like the option. I got the estimate from sewell and it showed about 8500 in repair costs and this included retail of 3600 for the frame. It included everything I could see wrong with the vehicle and some stuff that wasn't apparent externally. As far as I know the guy in the other car was ok, he was dazed and his airbag deployed he was checked out by the firemen but I didn't see how he left.
