Buying first H2

Hey, would like to know what I am getting into. Anyone recommend a mechanic in San Jose area who can work on issues I run into?

you would be getting into the same issues any GM truck of that age would have by now. plus water leaks.

Thanks man. Yep just figuring out if anyone here is good at it. I need someone familiar with them and wouldn’t mind paying them to double check a H2 before I pull the trigger.

Not that any GM dealer is an expert on the Hummer platform anymore (most of the original H2 mechanics have moved on) you can however you can get a good idea of the overall health of a used one. A 2 hour GM accessment is money well spent.

If the owner gives you any pushback about having the unit check out pass and find another, there currently are a lot out there for sale lately.

Considering the H2 is based on the GMT800/820 and shares many parts with a 2500HD truck and the Tahoe/Escalade you are in good shape there. The only rub is the specialized body parts and interior, those are hard to find and pricey.

Carefully do your homework and be ready to fork out some dough if you need to replace some of the "Hummer" only parts, Good Luck!
