Broken Exhaust Bolts Treatment

Just found a link, not sure if it has been discussed before, its a possible remedy for broken exhaust bolts...it looks very promising. ..

That looks like a great time saving product.

I looked at that kit and decided to just get it fixed right. My passenger manifold also ended up having a 3" crack in it that I didn't see.?and the kral kit wouldn't have helped me there.

Also check your dipstick tube. Chances are it's rotten as it runs up between the manifold. That repair is probably worse than the manifold bolts.

ARB sells a kit that will cure the issue. Sorry don't know how to post links. Dorman also has the bolts and are supposed to be better than the oem ones.

Yes, I saw an article about the rotten dipstick, gonna check t g at out also, believe me, I wou k do rather just get them taken out, as I want to go with Borla Headers..

What did it c ost to have the broken bolts removed and replaced. .

I can't really remember what it cost as I had a whole pile of work done. I know it was very reasonable. I think the manifold was only 240. (Canadian). If you are thinking of going headers make sure you do some reaserch. From what I've read the only thing that will improve performance is long tube headers. The manifolds on your truck now are basically shorty headers.

Old thread (no pun intended) means a lot to me

I purchased an '09 back in November and have been smelling hot rubber a lot lately, especially going up hills. Did plugs yesterday and topped off transmission fluid (need to drain and fill soon) and now that she runs smooth I can here a noise between 1500 and 2500 RPM. Ticking is somewhat common too.

I am betting this is the problem. I drive over a hill into the adjacent valley every day for work. This needs to get done soon. Thanks for the post.
