Default Added Cadillac Keyless Entry Key Fob on 2008 H2

While working on my H2 projects, I remembered reading a post about updating the remote entry key fobs... where I think the H2 key fobs are a bit understated in comparison to the rest of the rig. Mine are worn and feel like they are one drop from cracking in half. The Escalade key fobs on the other hand are a perfect blend of weight, ruggedness and good looks. I remembered a post from long ago describing using other GM key fobs on the H2, so I tried upgrading from the stock key fob to the Cadillac Escalade key fob
-- And it worked. I found the older 2007-2014 Escalade key fob on eBay that just has the 4 buttons - Open, Close, Remote Start and Panic/Horn @ 315Mhz. Programming the key fob for the 08/09 is super simple... it is an option in the driver information center.

If interested, on Ebay search for 2007-2014 Cadillac Escalade 4 Button Remote... there are some sub-$20 options, but I went for a good seller that is selling these new for $44... unclear if it is OEM... but all buttons work.

Now... How hard is it to program that key FOB... I'm afraid I'd screw it up....

Could you run down the steps??? I saw the seller for $44.00... I like to try it but I have a Black Cloud over my head 24-7..

Here ya go! Works for the 08/09 H2:
  • Insert Key and turn ignition to ON
  • Repeatedly press vehicle information button until PRESS {checkmark} TO RELEARN REMOTE KEY is displayed in the driver information display

  • Press {checkmark button}
  • The REMOTE KEY LEARNING ACTIVE will be displayed. At this point the programming mode is activated
  • Press both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on first remote transmitter simultaneously and hold until you hear a chime which indicates that the programming worked
  • Repeat above procedure to program any remaining key fobs
  • Switch ignition OFF to exit programming mode

You Da Man Bruno. Thanks.. I'll empty my cart and order it.. I will print the above instructions. If I don't F up then all the caddy owners in the area would have there horn and doors locking and unlocking.... Just think, there are several Escaldes in close proximity to my house. I might take one for a Joy ride about 3 AM.

Oh... One other question... I would like to keep my old key fob as a spare. Do I have to reporgam that after the caddy one? Or will it still work it I don't reprogram it?

Hummer H2 models may allow for programming of up to 4 fobs!

Depends how many fobs are linked. Adding a fob doesn't affect other fobs already linked>>> UPTO4!

Cool... So After I program the caddy fob.. I'm done. That leaves me with my original two which still will work as before. So that is a Total of 3 Fob-ies.
Did you ask your wife to get that answer? Hoo-Rahh
