4180e swap in my 03 H2
Hello everyone I am new here and after days of searching for the answer to my problem I have decided I should join a group that specifically loves the H2.
I have blown my LQ4 engine and have rebuilt it using ls3 heads and etc., I won’t bore you with all the upgrades because the engine isn’t the issue I’m having. I have also blown my 4l65e tranny and have decided to upgrade to the 4l80e tranny for more beef to go with the extra horses I’ve added to the engine.
Up to this point I have the 4l80e adapter mount, I have modified the crossmember, I have all the wiring adapters. I have a BW4484 transfer case which I have discovered is specific to the hummer. My issue is the 27 spline input shaft on my transfer case obviously doesn’t match the 32 spline output shaft on the 4l80e. I don’t want to change the tranny output shaft. I am having a problem finding a definitive answer on whether there is another input shaft that will interchange in my bw4484 that has 32 spline. All I can find are older threads that don’t answer the question. Is there a such input shaft? Is there another transfer case that will work without changing how my h2 drives now? Is the transfer case for a 6180 bolt in plug and play? Any info can help, thanks in advance!

Yes I’ve saw that before. If I’m not mistaken that is the adapter that bolts the 4l80e to the bw4484 transfer case which I already have and that’s the output shaft for the tranny which I dont want to change.
The 2008 H2 came with the 6.2L and 6l80E. The transfercase has a 32 spline input shaft factory. I have a 2008 H2 input shaft with planetary sitting new on the shelf I was going to use on a project but have not gotten around to it if you are interested.
Yes I asked a question to a transmission shop site and haven’t heard back yet. If I’m not mistaken the 2008 transfer case is the bw4485 which is the input shaft you have. I asked them if the input shaft from a bw4485 would switch into the bw4484? From what I have discovered, their planetary gears are the same. If that is true then it should be a simple swap out of the shaft and seals. I am interested in what you have, if you don’t mind let me know what you have to have for it, thanks.

The stock heads can be CNC ported for more airflow and milled up to .030 in. for more compression. Flow numbers can be as high as 325 cfm at .600 lift. Lightweight hollow stem LS3 valves can be cut to 2.000 in. to fit the seats. Between the light valves and better springs, the engines will pull cleanly to 7000 rpm.
