Default 2008 H2 Hummer transmission Overheating

Towed a 6000lb boat with my 08 H2 over the weekend and noticed the transmission temporature climbed to 212*F the engine temporature went to the One Oclock posetion on the dash gauge.
I was looking at a True Cool # LPD 4739 and was wondering if this is the correct choice for the 08 H2 Hummer.
I live in Toronto Canada so the winters here are cold.
Due to the overheating issue over the weekend should I replace the transmission and engine oil??
LPD Max Tru Cool 4739

A good external transmission cooler would be a great idea. I would also make sure to use a full synthetic transmission fluid. I use Amsoil tranny fluid.

BRO WHAT EVER YOU DO.

DO NOT I REPEAT, DO NOT CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION OIL WHAT SO EVER.

You must check with a professional before attempting to change the tranny oil.

Preferably the dealer or AAMCO.

I was talking to a gearhead mechanic today about the over heating problem with the 2008 H2 Hummer transmission.
He mentioned If I were to upgrade to the Tru Cool transmission cooler he could tap into the Hummers computer and have the transmission pump more flued which will help keep things cooler....TRUE OR FAULTS

I really don't know, on my 03' h2 212 degrees is not overheating. red on my cluster starts at about 265 degrees. my trailer weights about 6200 lbs and I ended up putting a heavy duty torque converter and a larger b&m transmission pan in it, but my temps were a lot higher than yours are before I did this.

I don't think yours even has the same transmission as my 03'. I had the 4l65e. I just tow in third gear.

212 degrees is not overheating. Your fluid is good to at least 250 degrees and even more with Synthetic fluid. p.s. the comment about not to change your tranny fluid makes no sense to me.

Thanks for all the advice guys ,I think I'll install one of those oil coolers any way just to be on the safe side.I'll also have to lookin on what oil to use when I replace the transmission filter and oil.
I know what made the engine temporature rise & Transmission temp that first time towing with the hummer ...I HAD THE AC ON THE WHOLE WAY..
Last weekend I towed the 6000Lb boat with no ac and the transmission reached 197F* NO overheating. I want thecomfort of the AC so I'll oil cool it.

You already have a very decent transmission oil cooler from the factory. they are not the very very best but they are better than most of the aftermarket ones available unless you go top end with its own fan..etc.

Make sure you have the overdrive off also when towing, your trans will shift too much and build up excessive heat.
