2004 OEM Headlights/Fog Lights to LED? Plug and Play?

Has any one replaced the headlights and/or fog lights on their H2 from OEM to LED? Are there any that are truly plug and play? It looks like most are designed for Jeep so it require cutting into the back of the housing to make it fit. Also, do they require splicing into the factory harness or just unplug one and plug in the new one? If any one with experience doing this could reply that would be greatly appreciated!

The headlight bucket which is the rear of the housing has to be enlarged for most aftermarket 7" round LED lights. I think TrukLites fit without enlarging the hole but you'll spend hundreds more on them than other lights which IMO work better than truklites.

Enlarging the bucket is not difficult at all, large rasp on a drill or die grinder and remove plastic until the light fits. I can still reinstall my stock reflectors with no ill effect after enlarging the bucket.

Post 26 of my build thread shows the TrukLites installed and post 30 shows a set of Amazon lights installed.

Rarely do I cut into my factory wiring so I used adapters to go from the H2 socket to the light socket (don't remember the bulb numbers off the top of my head).

Yes. The Trucklite 27270c fits the bucket with no modification. You will need the wiring adapters as the Trucklites have H4 Connector and Hummer OEM is 9007.

As far as the Driving lights, I just added LED Bulbs into OEM Housing. Not saying to buy these on Ebay, just showing what will work.:

Can you link the LED bulbs you used for the DRL?

One of my main problems is how foggy my stock glass has become, even after cleaning it with a kit, that's why I was thinking about buying new lights entirely, but maybe I should just put in LED bulbs in both the headlights and DRL's

I may give these a try rather than replacing the assembly. Thoughts?

The problem with those are you are going to blind the crap out of everyone on the road with them. They are good and extremely bright but in a reflector housing designed for halogen bulbs they are more like floodlights.

Look at one of the reviews on the first page. Guy with a Mercedes put them on halogen reflector housings then tried them in projector housings. Same thing - blinding floodlights in a reflector housing. Same as people putting HID bulbs in reflector housings.

As LoJac said, cutting the back of the housings is truly dead simple easy. I would however recommend against the bulk of the generic Chinese made LED headlights. The majority are poorly made, poor beam pattern, end up leaking and/or overheating. I hate to say it but the best resource for reviews of 7" round headlights are the Jeep forums.

I've posted here a few times before on the ones I used and recommend. I did a LOT of research and came up with what I consider to be the best bang for your buck. Most important to me was quality, beam pattern, light output.

Also we do not have fog or driving lights. We have comically gigantic daytime running lights that everyone, including new H2 buyers think are fog/driving lights.

That being said. I posted a few months ago about a specific set of aftermarket ones made for a couple of models of Toyotas that actually fit very nicely. Just a sneak preview - once I have time I'll do a full writeup on the mod. This does take a bit of work but its really not too bad. I currently have the halos connected to the DRL wires and I'm using the original brush bar lights switch and wires for the fog function. They look and fit great. Both the headlights and the (now true and proper) fog/driving lights are also proper DOT stamped good quality setups that will not blind everyone.

I was running Hid for years , fear to the mod keep me away from replacing the headlight for Led .

Ended with those Amazon package which included the drl lamps
Was very easy to adapt the headlights . Much simplemto connect than hid
The trouble came with the Drl .
Couldnt find the right size so I cut the lens on the oem drl to fit the led inside then fill the gap with black silicone
Came out great. One of the easier and best mod I done
I posted pics . Will post the post if can find it

Can you link me to the bulbs you used? They aren't too blinding to use for other drivers?
