Default 03 H2 with 110k miles

I'm thinking about buying my aunts H2 that she can't afford anymore after her divorce. The H2 is really nice and taken care of really well. The only thing that worries me is that it has a lot of miles. I know for a fact that most of them were highway miles as she used to go to her ranch every weekend before her divorce. The truck has never been in any accidents. Does anyone have an H2 with over 100k miles? Would would be something that I could expect to go wrong? Is there a special service that has to be done at 100k miles?

I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole but that's me. I have an -03 Birch White H2 with just under 50K on the odo ... 110 is high for an -03 if you ask me .. regardless of the kind of miles. How much is she asking? As far as service goes check the owners manual, should all be in there. I'd do it for you but I'm at the office and can't run out to my truck at will LOL!

I was just going to take over her notes @725mo for the next 2.5 yrs. So it would be around 21k-22k. Or until I would decide to trade it in before the note would be paid off which is probably what I would do in about a 1/1/2. My concern is something major happening since it has so many miles. KBB and Edmunds have it around 22k-24k with these many miles on it so the resale seems to be in our favor in that timeframe when I would want to trade it in.

Hi Dariel,

It all depends on the Cond., how well its been cared for, serviced at the dealer??

Whats Kellys Blue Book call for??

Every 30,000 Miles theres supposed to be a Complete Fluid change,Front,Rear,Trans,Brake, air filter, oil filter, oil, Tire Rotate, Eng injectors cleaned,ck A/C,ECT,I had it done at the Dealer, it was $1,400.00........they had it 2 days and gave me a CTS to drive till it was finnished.......

Just for case in fact I owned a 1985 Grand-am 4-cyc,drove it 168 miles a day to and from work for 7 years.......
Had 346,000 miles on it and Ran Mobil-1 Syn in it........before the Trans-went and traded it in.....

I beleive in Perventive mantance, Changed oil every 7,000 Miles.........and other Fluids are Required by the book..........Went thru- 2 fiber timing gears, 3 batterys and 2 sets of tires, 1 set of Brakes, and a Fuel pump (in gas Tank).........and ran 80 MPH Daily...........

If its taken care of like this, I would assume it will last for many more Years/miles.............

City Driving is Rough, On any car/truck, compared to Highway driving............

2004 H2------- 42,000 Miles

Have a Great Day..........RickLF

Thanks for the response. She bought it used (6mo old) from a dealership. The person couldn't handle the gas milage and decided to trade it in. The truck had around 10k miles at the time. From then on I know she has taken great care of the truck. She drove a lot here in Houston for her business but never used it for anything else other than driving around meeting clients. Then she would take it every weekend to their ranch 550 miles away. So it's in good condition with tires that are 6 months old. Never had anything wrong with it either. My only concern was that this year might have something that might be known to break (I'm new to these trucks). KBB has it for 22k and edmunds has it for 24k private sale.

Several things to factor in.....personally I wouldn't have a problem purchasing a truck from Texas that had 110k mostly highway as opposed to an 75k truck that you have no idea how(or where) it was driven. When I shopped mine I knew I wanted an out of state truck and Charlotte N.C. is where I found it 84k on an 03. The salt from Michigan winters is so damaging to our vehicles. My 03 H2 looks better on the bottom side than my 05 Scion xb (topside too of course). You also want to consider how much you are going to drive it. If you are taking the 550 mile trips every weekend, (and from your post it sounds like that is one way), you'll have over 160k next year, well before you have the truck paid off. Ultimately you have to factor in all the possibilities, and I believe you chose a GREAT place to get several educated decisions to help you make the right decision for you. Welcome to the addiction.....I mean forum.

Thanks for the reply...I only plan on driving the truck about 15k-17k a yr. So the truck would have about another 30-35k before it would be paid off and maybe half of that when I would decide to trade it for another H2 if I end up loving it enough for another one. But again, being that this vehicle doen't have a warranty anymore and my payment would be up there in priceI just didn't want to get caught with a major knownproblem with an03 with high milage. Obviously my aunt isn't trying to sell me a bad vehicle and at the same time I'm helping her out. But she doesn't know anything other than she takes care of it as best as she knows how.
This is a great forumto find out just about anything on an H2 with all the fanatics out here.

Why not just lease one worth 57k for 600 per month?

From edmunds "Thanks for the additional information, oc. OK, so you want to lease a 2006 Hummer H2 SUT that has an MSRP of $57,00 and a selling price of $52,000. According to my calculations, if you were to do so through GMAC right now for 36 months with 15,000 miles per year, your zero down, pre-tax monthly payment would be around $662. I based your lease on 15,000 miles per year because this is the highest mileage allowance that GMAC publishes residual values for. If you need to drive more than this you will have to purchase additional miles on a per-mile basis. It is less expensive to do so at lease signing than it is to wait until lease-end and have to pay an excess mileage penalty. "

Intreasting, I looked on GM's family website (since my dad is a retired GM worker I still get special discounts) and I didn't get those numbers. Although this was for an 07. Of course all this is pre-tax title and license fee's.
