That is a good question... I honestly am not sure. I cannot recall having see a catch like that under the hood of an H1 before. It was clearly welded on (very lightly) somewhere. I'd be looking for somewhere about a half an inch or more wide where it might have been. The catch itself looks rather stout and military grade but the weld is pretty tiny so whatever it was intended to hold was not likely very heavy.

It's the hook lock catch. Keeps people from opening your hood unless you pull the cable inside.
It's spring loaded so that you don't break it when you put the hood back and have already pushed the cable lock back into position (like a carbiner)
No clue why it fell off....bu that's definitely it.
