Driver's rear window stopped working
 

Has anyone ever had their power window all of the sudden stop working? I have a 2002 H1 and my driver's rear window only goes up about 1 inch and then stops. I can make it go up and down so it still works, but it will not roll up as usual. I have had the truck since 2005 and have never had any problems with the windows. I talked to a guy locally here who used to work on them, and he recommended I take the door apart, disconnect the 2-pin red connector that goes to the window motor, then activate the switch with the key on to see if I get 12 volts, the theory being that if I had a short of some sort, I would get less than 12 volts. But in fact I do see 12V with the meter. So the motor is getting adequate current. Since there does not appear to be a short, my friend thinks that the motor has malfunctioned somehow such that it will initially engage and start to roll up the window, then stop due to the gears or maybe the brushes in the motor being messed up. Before I invest in a whole new motor assembly, I thought I would ping you folks on the forum to see if anybody had experienced this issue before, and how you fixed it.

Had the exact problem with drivers window. Took out regulator, pulled motor panel, gears good, cleaned up worm gear rod, bench tested and everything worked perfectly. Reinstalled it and it stalled with the weight of window. Gave up, bought a new regulator. Done and it works perfectly. After spending ~$400, I saw rebuilt H1 regulators for sale that are much less expensive. Worth a try?
