GMC Announces the Hummer
I'm assuming you've seen this: https://www.autoblog.com/2020/01/30/hummer-truck-super-bowl-return/?ncid=edlinkusauto00000016&fbclid=IwAR1oZ_KQfYlax_ AeN2zq-wzLd88hlQk8qb7d54bB59AG9hMyml6fb4kb6MQ
I'm not sure I understand...is it a Hummer or is it a GMC?

Well no doubt it should be very interesting to see how this all develops. I guess the tree hugger's cant bitch to much being it is electric. I notice how GM went out of its way to say no emissions and also to say its a GMC.
Personally, if they would have made it a Duramax I would have seriously considered buying it if they didn't screw it up cosmetically. Since there really is no Hummer dealers releasing it under the GMC name was a necessity.
Now it should be interesting to see how well its received. It might drive the values of the old ones down, much like what happened to the C4 ZR1 Corvette, when GM came out with the new one the old C4 lost nearly 1/3 of their values and really never
recovered. One thing that is going for the new one is the 0 to 60 in 3 seconds. That's incredible performance and one that is likely to draw the supercar crowd to raise an eyebrow.
I really have mixed feeling about the whole thing. One thing is for sure, I hope GM wont tarnish the Hummer name by making some kind of Tesla copycat. I wonder if tomorrow during the superbowl commercials GM will give us a sneak peak.

I just don't think what they release will be in fact a "Hummer". It seems more like Escalade is to Cadillac, as Hummer is to GMC. It seems like GMC dealership is saying, hey guys we have a model called "Hummer", would you like to test drive that as well? In my opinion, that's not a Hummer, just a product variant under the GMC name. Even though our Hummers shared a lot of parts with other GM vehicles, they were still very much unique, and as for the H2, the design acceptance was by AM General, built by AM General, and then conveyed after final QA to GM for sales and distribution.
It will be interesting to see what it does to the value of the old Hummers. Perhaps it could be when Jeep released the watered down version of the YJ; everyone started buying up the V-8 Golden Eagles? To this day they still hold their nostalgia and value. However, even that is not a good reference. I just can't think of any other comparison of a highly sought product line, like Hummer, which was dismissed prematurely due to unusual and temporary economic conditions, and then brought back 12 years later as a model name under an existing product line. This might set a new precedence. Let's see what happens.

clsimmon, I believe you may be spot on about what will be released as a "Hummer", so far all the pictures of the concept vehicles look like a 2 dooor FJ Cruiser with a couple of H2 parts bolted on it. (The 2 door part would be exceptionally cool though) but the rest or it for sure not worthy of the Hummer name. IMO
I do find the GM teaser interesting, "Limitless" well unless they plan on bolting an engine in it to keep the batteries charged I am curious how they can say that. With 1000 hp and well over 10000lbs of torque it might be able to climb any mountain until the batteries run down. Then you can break out your energy drink and watch the sun go down. Then you can join the Prisus crowd and sit there saying how great I am for owning an vehicle that doesn't polute the environment (at least until I go home and plug it in to the grid and have it charged by a coal fired power plant, but that doesn't count, lol)
