Great write-up, I'm just about level at 23.75" and took less than an hour. The hardest part was gettin off the creaper and jackin' several times. The alignment seems OK as well as the steering wheel but I'll have it checked. The only way to get a nose dive was to blast the brakes and engage the anti-lock. I'll probably get the 1/2" extended bumpstops even though the suspension should articulate better w/o them.

LOL!!!!:D I just read my post! Hardest part was...LMAO

Just leveled mine...took 7 3/4 turns each side to get me at 23 3/4" after realignment.

Did I go too far?

Also what do you guys think about the angle of the headlights after a torsion lift? A state trooper that im friends with said that I should probably get them adjusted otherwise ill be blinding everyone.

great thread

Bought my 2008 Alpha used, and the previous owner had tightened the torsion bars to a lift of 25.5 inches from the center of the hub to the fender.

Used the directions in this thread to lower the front to 24 inches. It took some tweaking, but it was easy. BTW, found that I did not need to jack the front up to adjust the torsion bars.

From 22" to 23" in about 15 minutes. 3.5 turns pass side and 5 turns driver side. I can definitely tell the alignment is off now. New 305/70 Duratracs and alignment Thursday.. excited!!

Thanks for the tech!!

Post up some pics when it's done.

This wouldn't damage or ware on the stock shocks would it?

AZG1164 12-14-2010 10:39 AM

Yes, it would.

NIUPonyBoy 12-15-2010 11:31 AM

So would the extended length shocks be a better bet?

I've never done a torsion lift before, just "real" lifts involving lots of parts. lol
