There are some that consider the H1 as the only real Hummer. As someone that has owned quite a few H1s, a couple of H2s and an H3 I consider them all to be Hummers. I have enjoyed them all and been proud to own them all.
I was thinking about getting a H1 from the gov auction, but just not sure about maintenance, as in getting parts. It would not and could not replace the H2. Would not want to 'rough it' every where I went. Would not spend $$$$$$ to make it luxury.
I guess I could get a 496 and 4L80e from a 2500 suburban, A divorced np205, and a d60/14bff if I could just get a good H1 body.
Or I could drop those in my H2 like I've been wanting to do. Then I think that I'm just too old and tired for that anymore. Off to bed.

To be honest there's a difference between an H1 and a HMMWV. Electrical system, easier to register/insure, better sound proofing, no leaks from the rain, more creature comforts.
Those $5000 trucks on iron/govplanet are old bare basic, worn out base m998's not really a fair comparison.
when people hate on my truck its usually because there in some 90s jeep wrangler. ive never had anyone with a nice car hate on my truck. most people actually think its really cool and always ask me questions about it. which leads me to believe the haters are just jealous because either 1. they cant afford these trucks even as cheap as there getting. 2. there wife wont let them get one. 3. there just to liberal.

Since I’ve got rid of my h3 ppl seem to be a lot nicer to me on the road and ppl I know are a lot more approving of the Kia Optima that I now have. I would love to understand why there is so much hate for the h3, besides the ppl that believe they aren’t real hummers. That car saved me in a lot of situations and I will never regret having a hummer. I loved it and it will always be my favorite car RIP Hummy
You are letting other people choose what you should drive. I have had my 06 H3 for 6 years now and have never had someone tell me I should get another truck or car. Of course, I did 30 years in the Army and still have that "Look" so maybe that's the reason.
