Ah.......... I saw on a site out there that the price will be about $89. So that is give or take 10 oil filter changes (70-95K miles by the GM OLMS) to break even, but it does keep those 10 filters out of land fills.

Interesting, but... There are a few downsides. Disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling every time takes time. It looks like there are multiple o-rings; those could be a point of failure/leaks as they age. With disposable filters you get a fresh o-ring with every filter change. Filters around my neck of the woods only cost about $5-6, so that's 15 filters to break even.
Interesting idea though. Might very well be the future of oil filters.

I would personally rather change out my oil filters. It seems very gimmicky to have an oil filter that will stand the test of time. At the price that it's going to go for, I should think that having to finance a couple of oil filters through the lifespan of my car would probably be about the same cost at the end of the day anyway right?
