Still don’t get the point in the Sport, just buy the Escape without the markup.

Dealer markup. This is why dealerships are going to die off. Tesla is proving it.

FYI- Don't ever buy a Ford Escape, it is by far the cheapest piece of junk out there and Ford will not recall anything on it. Their trucks are fine and bigger SUV's. We have an Expedition which is great.

Well he’s talking about the Bronco Sport which is more or less the same thing as the escape.

Also what you say extends to all NA manufacturers, if it’s not body on frame or V8 it’s likely going to be trash.

Like the others have said the Bronco sport is a tougher looking Escape, our local dealer took about two weeks to sell the first one at MSRP.
The real Bronco that is due out mid summer should be a formidable opponent to the Jeep

Real Bronco is looking good and finally bringing competition to the segment of 2 (wrangler & 4Runner) that was badly needed. The off-road market has been slim pickings for several years now.

Yes, it's just body but the real issues are rust issues. This does not happen on GM nearly as bad. Our Escape is in the shop awaiting a transmission, but we've already had the entire front axel replaced because it rusted apart and broke going down the road. It also broke a half shaft when it did. And now the transmission is out possibly because of the damage sustained when the axel failed. The rear wheel wells are rusting out, completely! The shocks of course have nothing to mount to so have to replace the entire wheel well. I shouldn't have to replace this much on a car 15 years old. GM, at least they don't have the rust issues as bad. Not saying they don't have issues at all. But the Escape is one of the worst cars I've ever seen on reliability and I've owned quite a few Ford cars and trucks.
