Cooling System Upgrade
 

I have a stock 06 H2 SUT .
Because of the high temperatures and humidity of where I live in Florida, I would like to replace the factory radiator with a new one, that will increase the cooling capacity to my vehicle . I've seen ones that have single and double electric fans , and inter cooler capabilities . I will not be towing a trailer/boat . I will not be off roading .
I want one that can easily tolerate the heat and humidity, long distance trips, as well as stop and go commuter traffic . I'd rather have overkill with peace of mind that my vehicle will not overheat . Any make, and model units that have proven to be the best way to go by a majority of FORUM members, and the sites I can locate this item ?

There are many threads on replacing the factory radiator. In the past I have used single core aluminum radiators on my old muscle cars with one electric fan with great results here with the heat of AZ in the summer. Any aluminum radiator which fits will be an upgrade from the factory setup, especially if you go with electric fans. Also getting rid of the ticking time bomb, the internal tranny cooler which can rust and destroy the tranny.

I would replace the radiator with an aluminum unit and a separate trans cooler with an electric fan (separate cooling for both).
As far as the fans for the radiator I would suggest leaving the clutch fan (suck more air once they get over 2000 rpm than an electric) on the rear and putting electric fans with a thermostat control on the front for low speed (under 2000 rpm) cooling.

I just started towing a 3000 lb trailer 2007 h3 with 147000 miles and the temps were running high 3/4 to just under the red. So i replaced my clutch fan and added a plate style trans cooler 7'' x 11'' and Had the trans fluid and filter changed and the radiator was replaced last year with a oem replacement. And added a bottle of wetter water to the coolant. now the temp stays at the middle of the gage a on a 90 deg. day.
The new clutch fan is loud sounds like a semi truck . But it pulls a ton of air thew the radiator.
