Using Google Maps Nav from my Smart Phone
Newbie here. Just got me a '05 H2. Beautiful shape with 77K miles. Here are my details and related question(s): - Decided to keep factory Bose/H2 sound system, which does NOT have an aux input.
- Installed a BlueStar unit from COSTAR which highcacks the stock OnStar system to make/receive BlueTooth phone calls with my Android phone. No problem - love it.
- Issue is, the Google Maps audio does "not" BT thru the Bose speakers nor does any music. That's OK, I didn't expect it to.
- Also installed an independent wired back-up video camera.
So the request for suggestions is this: I'd like to amplify the sound of the Android smartphone, when using Goog-maps. I.E., I want to improve the sound of the smartphone, and not rely on the speaker phone sound. I have seen some units that appear to be powered speakers (using rechargeable internal power), that allow you to connect directly from a phone, or just lay the phone flat on it, with speaker pointing down. Takes the phone sound, and reamplifies it . The units are fairly small, so might not look too "out of place".
Yeah, I shoulda just replace the stock stereo with one that does it all. Just seemed like more money (at the time) than I wanted to spend. Already have about $400 into the BlueStar and camera so........
OK then - fire away - Any ideas how to solution the phone/Google Maps, ??
Thanks for any feedback!
