The Hummer H2 is the second vehicle that has been sold under the Hummer division of
General Motors and is considered to be a large sports utility vehicle. Though the H2 is quite large, it is not as big as its predecessor, the Hummer H1. The Hummer H2 provides comfortable seating for five passengers and has the ability to handle off road situations with ease. The Hummer H2 shares its truck platform with both the
Chevy Trailblazer as well as the
GMC Yukon, though these are three very different vehicles.
General Motors was excited about initial sales but sales fell drastically in 2004.
The Hummer H2 is equippped with a 6.0 liter V8 engine which provides just enough power for this large sports utility vehicle. The Hummer H2 has a high ground clearance not unlike the Hummer H1. The Hummer H2 also sports large tires, protective underbody, and low gearing. The Hummer H2 has a wide stance that protects it from the rolling that is often associated with the larger sports utility vehicles. This stability is great for the Hummer H2 as it is marketed as both a general purpose and off road vehicle, so safety and stability is a must. Many are concerned about the fuel efficiency of the H2, though it averages 14 to 17 miles per gallon. However, the worst case senario is said to be 8 to 11 miles per gallon.
The Hummer H2 is far more affordable than its predecessor, the Hummer H1. Manufacturer's suggested retail price for the H2 range from about $53,000 to $58,000. These prices obviously do not include tax, title, options, or accessories but these prices are less than half of the MSRP for the Hummer H1 making them more ideal for most people.
