Leaking Clearance Lights - FYI - 11/8/2007 2:33:50 PM

For those of you that drive a 2.... if your lovely significant other tells you that they hear water sloshing.... take them seriously....  I didn't... but once the carpet started getting soaked I knew I had an issue.

I figured out it was the clearance light.  I took the light off with the one simple screw and removed the rubber plug and cleaned it... and them siliconed the heck out of it.  This was just one the passenger side... But I also did the drivers side.

I had just under 3 gallons of water I sucked out of the channel with my shop vac.... and another gallon I got out with the steam vac carpet cleaner.

I had mine to the dealer for this. They said it was the drains in front of the widnshield.

Whatever they did, it worked.  But I'll check the lights just in case.

I work at a dealer so I had mine checked out. Water wasnt leaking from the clearance lights, but from the Onstar antenna base.

Drain tubes get clogged and the seals around the lamps get compressed
and leak.....reseal them and your go to go.

never heard of the on-Star ant though?

yeah.... I hit them with some RTV and it all went away... I was on 48 hr leak check when I posted this...
