thanks for great replies everybody. i have been doing a lot of research on this on this small issue lately. i actually own a motorsport shop in NY and I installed a pioneer z1 unit in a brand new yukon xl and couldn't understand why this guy would take a brand new vehicle with nav and and have it replaced with another unit until after i was done with the install test drove and wowwww. just a quick note, it has a lot easier and clearer and faster nav system, it has a hard drive that automatically records the cds u put in, dvd player, back up camera, XM, serious, u can watch dvds in the front front the rear unit and the other way around, it has vehicle dynamics section (speed, rpm, temp, direction. etc), it is voice command and touch screen and my favorite feature of it all is the bluetooth feature and it is exteremly clear, and have i mentioned how easy it is to use.
Now some of you might be asking why im going on and on about this unit sounding like a pioneer salesman (IM NOT). I just see a lot of people spending a lot of money getting these features all seperate (like back up cameras, bluetooth ipod and dvd and clutter your truck with gadgets that just get in your way.
The unit has its downfalls like its price from 1700-2500 full featured and they do not make installation brackets for any vehicles including H2s and i had to fabricate one.
This is actually a easy way out but i will be on this subject and let you guys know the factory units modifications as soon as i figure them out.

Not sure I totally understand all of what is being said here. So hope I am not repeating what has already been said but for the 2006 H2, if you want to run the back up camera, there is an aux port on the back of the Nav head unit that you can plug into to allow hook up of the unit. No splicing required. Splicing voids the warranty from what I am told. Also, you can run a DVD in the Nav system when in park. Can it be done so you can see the DVD while driving? Yes, but I would suspect most folks would get motion sickness from that. I know I would so its not worth the effort plus the risk of an accident. I can not even imagine the fine one would face if it was found out that the accident was cause by byppassing the system. I'm no "lets follow the rules, do good-er" I am all for finding work arounds and finding what works best for me as long as I dont get nailed but for me, there is no benifit for bypassing this built in feature.

I have the by-pass so the DVD can be watched on the Nav screen while driving. I agree with BlackTiger, I think the fine would be pretty high. Although there are some freeways in rural Nevada that go on for ever and hardly any traffic. That is the only time I might pop in a movie.

But back to not being able to listen to CDs and use your NAV. The only work around I have found is to put the music CD in your DVD player in the console and play the music through the FM transmitter.
