Hey all,

I am starting down my stereo upgrading plans and am considering speakers right now.  I have the ability through my work to get  this at a very good price: Alpine SPR-17S 6-1/2in 2-Way Component Car Speakers (Can see them here:  http://www.crutchfield.com/S-jm55bRveN3e/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=500SPR17S )  I have searched and these speakers should work in the front door and front pillar speaker locations but if someone could verify that for me that would be great!!  I am also just wondering if anyone has used these and how they sound (subjective i know).  I have listened to them at a local store and they sound great to me , much better than stock speaks.

Anywho, just looking for some opinions from my fellow H3 owners.

Thanks in advance!

Are you adding an amp?
Ur link showing us component speakers (6.5 speaker is actually a subwoofer in your door)
you can not connect this using the factory amp it will sound like crap unless you use an aftermarket amp.

Are you changing the head unit? or just replaceing the speakers

I was not planning on adding an amp at this time but from the sounds of it I will be now :)  I am a bit new to doing aftermarket stereo upgrades.  I do plan on upgrading the factory HU.  Right now I am looking at adding a Valor ITS-702W DVD receiver.  I realize that this is not a well known name brand manufacturer and there are similar but better units out there but for the price and what it comes with it has all I need.  I don't plan on watching DVD's but I do plan on putting in a backup camera and using the ipod connection.  That along with the XM stereo integration put this unit on my short list.

At least that is the plan so far.  Subject to change as needed

Just for further ??'s, I have an 07 base H3 (shoulded have added that in the beginning).

Does Crutchfield actually recognize the H3 now? Last time I checked everything said "No fitment data available" or
"your vehicle has not yet been researched"......Bastiches ! ! ! !  I used to love the pre-made wiring harnesses and crap.
I'm to stupid to piece together my own system.....

I have a Dvd player in my head unit with stock monsoon speakers
2 channel amp for the subs

The stock speakers sound okay to me.
