Hello All.  I just located and joined the forum today.  I am contemplating the purchase of a Hummer H3.  I had a 2003 H2 previously but got rid of it because of the fuel mielage.  My current ride is a Toyota FJ Cruiser, yeah, okay, let the flaming begin.  I am actually pretty happy with the FJ's performance overall, however I use this vehicle for work and find that having 4 "real" doors as opposd to the rear suicide doors would be to my advantage.  I am looking for feedback regarding cargo room, fuel economy, etc.  Also, I am addicticted to satellite radio, Sirius in particular.....I know that the GM series are set up for XM, but I believe tthat there is a conversion unit out there, yes?

Some of my concerns have to do with the threads on here about valve problems.

The Head/Valve problem was within a defined set of vin #s for 06, and very early 07.  Gone.  100,000 mile warranty.  Even covers cracking, if there ever was any.

There are sirius conversions, and there are threads on the intalls with bocoo pics in the audio section.  Search and enjoy.

Okay, so help me out.....convince me to make the trade.  Other than the 4 real doors vs. clamshell doors on the toyota, what advantages does the H3 offer over the FJ Cruiser?

One thing that has always impressed me about the Toyota is that it seems like as long as you change the oil every 5k miles, the damn thing runs forever.  I am at 43k miles thus far and have never done more than change the oil and rotate the tires.  Minimal upkeep is important to me right now as my job requires me to drive about 30k-40k miles per year.  Any particular problems to be aware of?

if you don't plan on going offroad, upgrade the FJ to a 4Runner.  but if you wanna play in the dirt, go with the H3.  they come stock with a skirt too, so you'll have something to wear on Saturday night . . . . . . . .

Hey... are you the same BAG on the 1911 forums??

Just curious.... welcome anyways.....  pardon us if the welcome wagon has 2 broken wheels... it seems every other day there is some ass in here telling us how great the FJ is..... and you know.... it gets old... because we really don't care.... not even a little.....

Yes, same BAG from 1911forums.  I guess we all get around huh?  No need to apologize for the others, looking forward to serious feedback on the H3 vs FJ.  I didn't join this one to sing the praises or flame either, looking for real info to make an informed decision.  Come on guys, help a brother out, convert me.

well,we dont off road a whole lot, hardly any,but the h3 is one of the coolest rigs out there,i bet 51% of why we bought ous was the cool factor, others where gas and the ability to fit bigger tires w/out paying 3grand for a lift

I've watched the H3 in action....  it's fun and it's capable.  Look for some of TINKED's video's on here... she is beating the hell out of that thing.... there are many nice action shots in the sights and sounds forum...
