I went to a friends new rim shop tonight and we test fit about 20 different rims and came up with a few problems.

First off, you need a rim with a large bore, this limits the available rims especially with close to stock offset. The needed bore size is 4 3/16.

Second, the few rims we found that fit were real real close to hitting the front of the caliper. If you look through the spokes in the stock rims, the front of the caliper (facing you) is about 1/4 inch from the back of the spokes. On the aftermarket rims we tried the space between the spokes and the caliper face was 1/16 to 1/8...real real tight. So the only solution we could find is to add a 1/4" spacer to push the wheel farther out, but this will make it stick out even farther. I'm sure going to 20 or bigger will solve this problem but most h3 owners won't buy 20's anyway.

The only rims we found that cleared the calipers both in depth and in diameter were 17's and 18's. All the 16's he had there were not ig enough inside the back of the rim to clear the calipers.

He called his distributor and he was told that they have like 5 rims available for the h3 specific and judging by the dimensions needed it would be real hard to find a perfect fit right now. The stock backspace/offset is that of most import tuner rims but they are not available in the 6 on 5.5 bolt pattern we need, the ones that do have the correct offest and BP had a small bore.

I will keep you guys informed when he hears any news on new rims bieng released for the H3.

Do you have a listing of the wheels that you tried that didn't fit? And the ones that are supposed to fit.

sewie, I don't have a list..we were just grabbing rims off his display and throwing them on. In the worst case scenerio most wheels will fit but a 1/4 spacer will need to be added behind the rim to clear the front of the caliper. Thats in a 17, some 16's will hit the sides of the caliper and theres no way to fix that problem, the inside diameters are just too small.

I went to that site and did the application guide. According to them they have like 3 different wheel styles for 17-18's. Maybe I did something wrong?
