I cancelled OnStar this morning.  I started thinking about it, and how often am I in the middle of nowhere with no cell coverage and nobody around to call for help? NEVER.  I don't need diagnostics to tell me when my engine needs an oil change, and from what I hear, most theifs know how to disable OnStar tracking within 60 seconds, so I decided it was pointless and money I don't need to spend.

You can pat me on the back when you see me in the spring

You guys are hurting DVaders feelings!!!        He is a Gordo fan.                          Hendrick Motorsports ain't nothin to shake a stick at!   I just don't like rooting for the eyebrow man! Gordos buddy, Jimmy "Eyebrow" Johnson.

I'm not a On-Star lover or Jeff Gordon fan, but $16.95 a month is worth it to me not having to worry about my wife being trapped in a vehicle for 8 days.

http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=3674924

This was a Honda Element, but if it would have been a GM with On-Star, authorities would have been alerted as soon as the air bag deployed or the sensors detected a roll over. I often find myself in remote locations like the Ozarks, where only On-Star's phone works. I may never need it, but it's nice knowing you have it. Kinda like having your concealed carry permit. You hope you never need to use it, but if you do it may save your life.

Honda Element, that explains some things, and that embarassing piecocrap ain't no SUV (absolutely no sport whatsoever).
Darn Law of the Jungle was at work and got messed up by searchers?

I just got my renewal form in and it's $18.95 monthly or $199 annually ($16.58 per month) or $379 for 2 yrs ($15.79 per month)

One thing, if you're upside down in a ditch or whatever, OnStar doesn't work... Also, if her airbags deployed, OnStar may have had time to send a signal but may not have had time to send GPS positioning data depending on how the vehicle ultimately landed. Don't know if would have helped that lady that was lost for 8 days.

I'm going to renew mine mainly because my wife drives it a lot and she has some medical conditions, it's like an extra insurance policy to me.

If you call to cancel, they will offer it to you for cheaper.  I was paying $12.95 a month when I cancelled.  The first time I called, they offered me the $12.95 a month deal for 12 months.  They just raised their prices by $2.00 a month, so I'm not sure if they'd give you the same deal anymore.
