It could be the windshield side mouldings. I think I,ve read something about it here on the forum. Do you have a sunroof? It could be the deflector.

air box covers also do it, so if you get the windshield moldings fixed and it still does it you will know where to look next

I had the same problem.  Pulled the moldings off and cleaned them, then put rtv silicone where the stripping was.  Now the rattling is gone.

I just fixed this issue prior to a 2,600 mile cross-country relocation in which I had to drive my H2 with spouse and 2 dobermans. It is an easy fix! The problem is the "clips" that hold the plastic parts to the metal. On each side you have the square "air box" pieces that each have 4 clips and a screw that you must remove and then simply pull up hard and they pop off, next you need to take of the wipers, you will see a spring-loaded lever near the base of the wiper that holds the wiper arm to the wiper motor. Pull this lever and, at the same time pull the wiper arm away from the truck and it slides right off (be carefull not to lose the small keyway that is inside and matches the groove in the wiper motor shaft). The plastic fascia that covers the wiper motor is the rattling cuplrit. Use a flat srewdriver to pry it up and off the truck, use even pressure to avoid breaking it (it is pretty tough to break though). Either buy new clips from an auto supply store or "steal" clips from the air box covers that are in better shape (this is what I did, then I simply bent the bad clips out a bit so they would get a better purchase), reassemble in reverse being careful to line up the holes and clips prior to pressing into place. I have not had a rattle since and I have about 5k miles on it since the fix. If you need help, e-mail me.
