So, I own a H2.  Why is it that I see so much hatred from Wrangler owners?  Yet they always seem to be adminring the H2 when we pass.  Theres a guy on my way home that has a bumper sticker that says "If I wanted a Hummer I'd call your sister"  And his plate says H2 SUX.  Why all the hate?  This is my first H2 and I will someday hopefully take it off roading, any one know of a local off raoding club in the Northern Virginia area?

And, how does the jeeps compare to Hummers as in off roading capabilities?

I like Jeeps, but not as much as Hummers.  Do you have the number to that guy's sister.  I'll call.

I just consider it a good old rivalry, nothin that I would call hatred in most cases.   Maybe Hummer envy??  Somebody get out the Jeep thing sticker

Yeah, because we all know that Hummer owners never say anything bad about Jeeps.

I obviously can't speak for other areas, but the areas I've spent time in with the H3, I haven't noticed any weird attitudes from anybody.  Then again, I don't pay really pay attn to others much.  I've admired Jeeps, some have admired my H3.  If anyone's hatin', I don't notice.

A guy I work with went out and bought the same bumper sticker and put it on his trailblazer when I bought my 3.  Being at work I had to handle it professionally, I told him I met his sister but wanted something not everybodys been in.  I had a little discussion with HR after that.

I don't think it is just a jeep thing - several drivers hate us hummer drivers... quite frankly, I love my rig so f 'em.

As far as off roading, I have owned jeeps for 20 years... there are pros and cons to both hummers and jeeps as far as 4 x 4..

I have a hard time with my H2 fitting in tight places in the woods and the wheel base is a bit much for climbing, but I am untouchable when it comes to pulling torque on the beach...

Here's my 2 cents on this issue:

I don't understand why the rest of the 4X4 community, and especially Jeep owners hate Hummers so much. I was with a bunch of other Hummer owners at an off-road park and things turned a little nasty between us and the Jeep owners. I think it's partially envy, since the Hummer is more iconic and draws more attention. I like Jeep Wranglers, I used to own one. They are very fun, nimble, capable vehicles. But my reason for choosing the Hummer is that it fits my lifestyle better than a Jeep Wrangler. With the Hummer, I can go off-roading, carry loads of gear, and return home without being windblown or choking on dust. The soft top thing is nice, as long as the weather is nice.

Some people look at Hummer owners as snobs, because we are all rich, right?  Actually, most H2 and H3 owner's vehicles are daily rides that are used for wheelin, driving to work, taking the kids to school, grocery shopping, ... you get the point. With the exception of the new four door Wrangler Unlimited, I don't see many Wranglers as daily rides. They're just not a practical SUV.

I have Jeep friends that I wheel with and have a great time. They are constantly amazed when they see what the Hummer line is capable of. The best thing we as Hummer owners can do is get out there and show them what Hummers can do. Right now, they think we are just mall crawlers with all our bling and chrome. It's probably going to take years to get respect from the off-road community.

it's a rivalry.....just like watching the Browns-Steelers or Packers-Bears...it is what it is. Most hard-core Jeepers will hate the hummer line and the same the other way around.

I have always liked jeeps.  However they have never produced a product that fit my towing needs.  That could go offroad as well.  I am a huge fan of the wrangler.  I also really like the Toyota FJ.  But the fact is I LOVE my Hummer more.
It is just as capable if not more than the Wrangler and FJ.  I get much more luxery ammenities and you can tow a boat with it.  In my opinion I think the rivalry is funny more than anything.  If people actually take it seriously well the just have other issues and should see a doctor.

Just my .02

in some situations yes weight will give you an advantage...some times, the lighter the better. Anyone that says a hummer is more capable than a rubicon is very misinformed.

I don't know much about off-roading but I've seen that the rubicon can do trails better than most cars because of the 35 inch tires, the short wheelbase, and the whole car in general is meant to go off-roadins and it's sole purpose is to off-road because when it gets cold or starts raining that colth roof can be a pain in the @ss
