I'm a fairly new H3 owner and am dressing it up a bit.
I want to replace the stock tow hooks with polished stainless ones.
I have twice now purchased ss tow hooks only to have them shipped
to me with major dings/dents in the faces of the hooks.
The main cause is insuffecient packing material used to protect the hooks.
Fortunatly the vendors have taken them back but I am still out shipping
cost.
Can anyone recommend a good place to get these from that will ship me
undamaged hooks?

Any and all help is appreciated!
Thanks,
Joe

Welcome Joe!  How do you get a major ding in a 3/4" chunk of SS??  More than a packingproblem.  I beenthinking about them, but that's as far as I ever got.  The balck ones can be touched up with rattle can paint if they get smurfed, so I'll stick w/them.  Did you try the ebay vendors? Can you tell us where you bought them from so the members can take that into consideration when purchasing?  Thanks

I have purchased an H2 set and two H3 sets from RealWheels.  No problem with shipping and no problem with the tow hooks after a couple of pulls from mud.  I actually chain achor my H3 to a car hauler trailer by the front tow hooks.  Still look like new.

Thanks for the welcome!!!!!!!!!!
I'll try to explain how I think the dings occured.
The way the hooks are packed, the loop is folded over on the base with the offset face on the base.
Since there is still a little angle to the loop, the face of the loop sits on the edge of the base.
If you are having trouble visualizing this look at a picture of a hook with the loop and the base.
The hook is them wrapped in foam, NO foam between the hook face and the base, then put in
a plastic sleeve. With three of these hooks in a box there is considerable weight.
Even packed tightly, the loop of the hook bounces on the edge of the base eventually making a dent
in the face of the hook. This face is the offset face which is supposed to be facing out to keep the hook from
swinging into the vehicle.
I know the hooks may eventually get dings, but if they do, I want to be the one to put them there.
When I'm paying for a polished piece I expect some quality to arrive.
I'm not an "off-roader" and I wanted to have the polished hooks to add a little "show" to my H3.
As far as who the vendors are I would prefer not to give out names right now because my refunds are still being
processed. Maybe I will post them later.
I will say the one name brand of hooks I got was Aries Offroad. I have bought their products before and been
happy with them, so I was quite disappointed in their hooks.
I called Aries directly and they didn't seem too concerned or caring about the situation.
Maybe time to scratch them of my list too.
