I have my first real prospect for my first H1 purchase and wanted to know what the 4 wheel drive gears are and in what situation they are used in. ie HL, H, N, L and which one you use for daily driving. I will be driving mine back from VA.

Thanks for everyones help so far
Look forward to my first trip offroad soon

Use H for driving in normal conditions.

pretty much like any other,h for normal,hl for like snow and stuff,l for some seriuos crawlin

Everyday driving uses H, which is essentially the same as the all wheel drive mode found in many other vehicles. This allows the front and rear driveshafts to rotate at different speeds for turns. HL and LL (High Lock and Low Lock) are the 4 wheel drive modes which lock the two driveshafts together for enhanced traction. They should not be used on pavement.

If you plan it right you are just in time to wheel that newly found H1 at the Homestead Event in November... that'll teach you some things about your rig....
