Has anyone else had problems with the H3 light rack (5 yellow lights) on top? I've had my H3 in the shop twice now for a very loud buzzing vibration when I drive at highway speeds. The shop just told me that Hummer has a bad design on that light rack and they are working on it. In fact they are not suppling any more racks to fix the problem.
TNX....

People have spoke on here about it before.... do a few searches. I think someone said theres made lots of noise after a month or so. Hummer is supose to have a fix for it but i dont think its really a fix. I think they just put double sided tape on it with the screws now. Someone even said they dont sell them as an option anymore once because of this. If you take it off you'll have holes in your roof. Maybe you could jam some silicone around all the edges so air cant get under and make it vibrate.

Thanks Bigwood212... I did some searching but I probably didn't use the right search words. I'll keep looking.
I'll give the silicone a go and see what happens.....
I'll pass on any other info I hear from the shop or Hummer.

Mine didn't come with them, but I had the dealer put them on after I bought it. They buzzed on the way home, and on the way back to get them fixed. As it turned out, the light bar wasn't put on strait and hung over the passenger side windshiled by about a 1/4 inch. They took them of and repositioned them and I would assume siliconed the crap out of it. The mechanic, as posted on the repair order, test drove it at 80 and didn't get them to buzz after the fix. I have had no problem since.

wonder if you could spay some of that expanding foam in a can stuff under the light bar, seems to me that would fill the void and eliminate all air/wind noise and vibration. I know I used it under my boat windshield and at 85 mph it doesn't make a sound now.

Doesn't that stuff expand to like, 4 times it's size? I've heard of it busting windows in houses before when used to fill the void in the rough opening around the window.

there are different kinds. The kind I used for my boat expanded to fill gaps but didn't over expand. It was more of a light duty stuff.

I hate to beat this dead horse, but I'm about ready to loose my mind!
I've had this problem with the Roof Marker Lamps (alias the Light Rack) since I bought this H3 back in May. It's a monthly ritual to bring it back to the shop to have it tighten down. This will be number 4. Once going down the road at about 75 or 80 (yeah I know... that's a bad thing) it will vibrate like hell! They tell me Hummer is working on the problem. I just don't beleive they are working hard on it. I paid big bucks for this and it's not right that I can't drive it.
Does anyone know a phone number, mailing address, or email address to someone at GM or Hummer that I can jump on? I've sent emails to the Hummer website twice with no one replying back. Big supprise! Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone else have problems with the Roof Marker Light vibration???? What did you do????
Should I demand a them to replace it with the Off Road Lamps????
Sorry for the Bit*hin'.
TNX........

Bring it back three time for the same problem and tell the dealer this is my third time if i have to come back again this truck covered under the lemon law.
So you will have to buy it back then see what they do.

Thanks Dilo.. I called my dealer today and laid down my complaint. Not sure it did anything or not. They said they would call me back. Yeah right...
Anyway, I hear from other forums that there is a repair kit available to the GM repair shops. Does anyone know about that? Also I heard of a recall on those Marker Lamps. Anybody know about that? I can't find out anymore on those two items.

Is it the side parts vibrating or is it the middle piece? Is air getting under the parts? It seems to have a pretty good seal. Too many questions, but need to understand.

TNX......

And I was just thinking of replacing my off-road lights for the marker lights. Do they all make noise?

What I understand that the dealership is not allowed to sell the Hummer marker lamps now because the they tend to vibrate and Hummer has no fix. I don't know about aftermarket. I guess air gets under the bar and when it's loose it will buzz and vibrate real loud. Mine gets loose about every couple weeks.

my marker lights were installed by the dealer and so far so good, but my mileage could be low....do all of the roof marker lights start to malfunction after many uses....also where was the recall or stop install order originally posted?

i was told that at 10,000 miles they will cause a noise like a vibration. At 15,000 miles they will start blinking. And at 20,000 miles you will be ejected laterally out the drivers side door into the on-comming traffic lane. GM says not enough people are going to be affected by this problem to issue a fix or a recall.

What if you remove them silicone the whole botom off it and put it back on that would seal it and hold it in place and for the screws use the Loctite .
