HELLO, HAS ANY BODY PUT SPARE TIRE ON STOCK H2 ROOF RAILS AND TIED DOWN? IF SO HOW DOES IT WORK? THANKS, ANDY

I know a guy with an H2 and has a gobi on the roof with his spare.... any ways his wife was driving it and drive it into a parking garage.... lets just say it didnt fit.

The stock roof rails will support the spare.  You just have to move them a little closer together.  Use good 0l' American ingenuity to tie it down securely.  Motorcycle bunji-cords won't do it.

The trick is getting the dang thing up there and then back down.  I think the spare weighs about 75 lbs.

75LBS YES I WAS HOPING SOMONE HAD THE TRICK TO GET IT UP THERE... WELL I WILL GIVE IT A TRY.. GOBI RACKS ARE NICE  BUT TO MUCH $$$ FOR ME.. THANKS ANDY

WELL I DID IT TIRE IS UP THERE. I PULLED MY OTHER LIFTED PICK UP NEXT TO HUMMER AND LIFTED TIRE UP NO PROBLEMS.... THANKS, ANDY

WELL AT THAT POINT I WILL TIE ROPE AROUND TIRE AND LET DOWN SLOW WITH A PAD UNDER IT... I THINK ANYWAY... SAME WAY TO PUT IT BACK I THINK? OR STICK IT IN REAR.. BOTTOM LINE I HAVE NO CLUE........ ANDY

Gobi isn't the only rack maker.... 

you can also consider getting one of those steps that fit into your receiver hitch.... and you can take it out anytime.

I saw that defender rack and I like it alot.  I plan on mounting my tire up on my roof as well with the defender rack and just using a small ratchet strap to hold it down.  Does anyone besides Gobi make a nice ladder?
