We just bought a new H3 (Black, Lux, Chrome, body colored grill, chrome brush guard) and will pick it up next week. I'm planning to add aftermarket wheels immediately. In fact, I've already purchased a set of 5 ProComp wheels and Nitto Grappler tires. Now I'm second guessing my decision. I haven't taken delivery of the wheels yet so I figure I still have time to change my mind.

We went with the Black/Polished Alum wheels rather than the all Chrome version of the same wheel. We thought it would be a little more unique and not quite so flashy. Now I'm concerned about the black finish (will it last?) and if they'll look good.

I did some mock-ups on some photos of the truck and wheels (I'm not a photoshop expert as you will see!) and would love some opinions.

I went with 20" wheels and 305/50/R20's on the Grappler All Terrains. I like the size for the $$...going up to the 55's (i.e. 33" vs. 32") was going to run another few hundred $$ so I'm happy with this size. The pictures don't really do a good job of showing the wheel size and tire profile...but you get the idea. No matter which I choose, they will look much better than the photo.

your obviously a pavement pounder so I think chrome would be best for your ride...especially since you have the chrome nerf bars already. Black looks better for an offroad setup not on 20" street tires..IMO.

I should have mentioned...this truck is actually for my wife. And you're absolutely correct, it's going to be a suburban "pavement pounder" as you suggested.

I also talked to a guy this morning with similar black painted wheels who said the clear coat on his wheels began lifting after only 1 year. The first wheel was covered under warranty...the others started later to they weren't covered! Something I hadn't considered.....

I've seen really nice blakc on black pavement pounders and the chrome will look better expecially when your wife will be driving it.

I like the chrome better IMO. It matches the rest of the chrome parts.

I appreciate the feedback. My wife and I were ready to call and change the order to Chrome...then I did this quick mock-up. I don't recall who's ride this was (apologize for not giving credit...) but it was yellow with the same black/alum wheel we ordered. So I used my fantastic photoshop skills (not) to change the truck color to black. Now we're back to leaning towards the damn black wheels. This picture looks pretty cool!

We would also have body matched grill and a chrome brushguard.

Question, since your wife will be driving this, why do you need fancy tires/rims? Just asking out of curiosity :) I'd rather thrown in another plasma for the home and leave the wife with stock rims, but thats just me

It's funny you bring up this point, even my wife said that there are other things in the house that she'd rather spend $3k on. (Although there was never mention of a plasma) With so many of these things roaming the streets these days, I'm just a sucker for some uniqueness. (Is that a word?) I drive a sedan and will be swapping vehicles with her regularly and don't want to be seen in a "stock" truck.

I have a black H3x and this is my choice in a 20" rim.
Be sure to keep the overall diameter the same to keep your speedo accurate and not to upset your stabilitrac.

That IS SWEET!!! But you HAVE to have some Chrome for accent otherwise everything just gets lost as BLACK!!

The black ones looks sweet, but I'd still go with the chrome.
