Hey guys, I want to do a tranny service on my 2003 H2. I have a friend with a shop and he said if I pick up the filter and gasket and ATF he will only charge me the labour. I get a good deal on parts. My question is how many litres of ATF would I need if they just drop the pan?   Thanks in advance.

Check the manual, I would guess there is about 5 or 6 quarts in the pan and 15 quarts in the system. Do it right, drain all the fluid and replace it with Mobil 1 ATF- there is a new upgraded ATF by Mobil and I think it is Dex IV?It is the biggest and best upgrade you can do to any Hummer unless you enjoy buying tranny's.

You would think it would... but it doesn't..... 5-100 has capacities for everything else... and 6-18 (I think) has fluid types....

If you look up a 4L60E for a 2003 Tahoe it says 5.5.....  I'm doing mine this week.... (50,000 miles)... so I'll know then for sure.....  I bought the Mobil 1 Syn ATF.....

Muddydawg75. Are you just dropping the pan or are you changing all the fluid?

The new Mobil ATF for Dexron VI is not full synthetic like their regular Mobil1 ATF. It's a blend, but still probably better than the GM Dexron VI which is not syn at all.

Anyone know of anyplace online already stocking this new Mobil DEXRON-VI ATF?

tomp - On the Mobil 1 ATF Dex IV  bottle it says synthetic. If it was a blend they would have to say it.

I never said the new ATF is Mobil "ONE".

Mobil "1" is full synthetic, but does NOT meet Dexron 6 requirements. The new Mobil ATF I referred to above does meet Dexron 6 requirements and is a blended synthetic and does not have the number one after the word Mobil.

It states right here on their website that it is blended: http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorOil/Other_Products/Mobil_Dexron_VI_ATF.aspx
