is it possilbe to disable fuel and spark plug on one cylinder for fuel economy?? isn't 6.0 liters a bit to much engine? (the truck ways 1000 pds more than a tahoe)

That is basically what Dodge did with thier Hemi. Under cruise or very light acceleration the PCM shuts down 4 of the eight cylinders, effectively making it a 4 cylinder engine. The exahust valve stays open a little bit so the piston isn't meeting resistance from compression. As soon as you need power, the PCM kicks those other cylinders back in and away you go. The transition from 8 to 4 and back is almost un-noticeable.

i got the weight for the stock 315 /70R17 tires are 65.05 pds. so the rim must weigh 33 pds, sounds about right. there are rims of that size that weigh only 22 pds. but i guessing that bigger rims would lower the overall weight (something i learned from mountain biking).

It would be my guess that a bigger diameter rim would weigh more because there is more metal. The metal weighs more then the rubber, and they both weigh more then the air inside.
