I want to put a new warn (max) winch on our H2, it comes in a 12,000 or 9,000 pull......w/air comp...

what would be the best for the truck........and does any one else own one of them........and do you like it........

Thanks..........Rick

The 12,000lb. winch sounds better because if you have a lot of extra weight it could come in handy but if the 9000lbs winch is cheaper it would seem like a better choice.

My 2 cents.....

If both units are of a similar size and close in cost, you have to go with the higher rated unit.

I kind of view winch capacity like I do HP, get all you can up to the point where you cause structural failures or compromise other systems.

I've never heard anyone complain about having to much winch.

i've got the 9000 on the bus, and it's never let me down.  we snapped an 18000 lb pull pal trying to pull an H1 sideways on ice.  it moved about 3 inches before the pull pal gave it up.  but, if you've got the cash and the space, going bigger is never going to hurt.

This has nothing to do with the max winch question, but what is the highest weight rating a winch has ever had, for cars

I have the Warn 9,000 on my H2.  Used it four time now off road.  Once to pull myself out of a creek and the other 3 times to assist other trucks.  Even a H1 centerlined on a tree trunk.  Plenty of power.

Hi Fear.....

Most likely thru- Winch Depo, they sell the 9,000 and the 12,000 for the same price........

Its better to Have it and not need it, than Need it and Don't have it........
